For the first 20 years of life, I had an irrational fear of flying.

Not just the kind where you feel a bit anxious and get on with your life, but the 'seeing-a-plane-makes-me-want-to-vomit' type. I was always curious about travel but my phobia was an obvious barrier impeding any venture that exceeded the East Coast of Australia. However in June 2013, my sister and I decided it was time to combat our fear by flying to Melbourne to see one of our famous artists perform. I am forever grateful for this spontaneous decision because that 50 minute flight not only enabled me to finally face my fear; but also unlocked a whole new world of adventures and experiences that have undoubtedly changed my life. This page is thereby dedicated to the overseas destinations I have been to within the past year, because in the words of Miriam Beard-

“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.”
